The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5 NIV
This is possibly one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. In reading this verse, another word for overcome is understood, as in the darkness did not understand the light. Isn't that powerful? Jesus is the light, Satan is darkness and thus he does not understand. Jesus is the light and the world is in darkness and does not understand. We are here to help.
Being a supervisor there are times when I tell my staff something and some of them understand and some don't. It's a product of delivery of the information and the context in which it is received. It is my job to make sure I am clear about what I am telling them and make sure they understand. Otherwise there is only confusion.
It's much like the world. If we are not clear about teaching and showing them God's love, they will not fully understand and be easily swayed by false teachings. It is our job as Christ's followers to be clear and concise in our delivery.
Be the light that shines through it all.
