Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8 NIV
Science has proven through various studies that how you think determines your emotions and how you view any given situation. Try it sometime. When you hear or see something adverse, think about it in a different way than you normally would. Something that might have made you angry may not this time. It's how you react to and think on a given situation that determines how you feel about it.
The Bible tells us to think on the things that are good, uplifting, fortifying, admirable...because God knows how powerful our minds really are. We need to use our brain power for good. Imagine the difference we could make if we helped others be the best possible version of themselves. Our thoughts are powerful. Don't let Satan have that power over your emotions and mental energy. Dwell on God's love.
