Because I Said So

he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. Isaiah 25:8 NIV

I remember growing up and my parents using that famous line, "because I said so." It rings true today and I can neither confirm nor deny that I may have used that same line on my own children. Mom or dad has said so and that's that. No arguing. Believe it. It's done.

This verse ends this way. God has spoken. No arguing. Believe it. It's done. God said so. God said Jesus would conquer death once and for all. Jesus echoed those lines from the cross. It is finished. When God speaks there is nothing in earth or in heaven that can change what he says. Praise God that's true!

So as we celebrate this Easter remember that when God speaks, it is finished.
