Chain of Command

Yours, Lord , is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord , is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 NIV

We humans tend to fuss and fret over titles, hierarchy, chain of command, and so forth. Even me. I'll admit I'm old fashioned enough that I follow the chain of command and expect the same professional courtesy from coworkers. In my work life I have met and talked with people from all walks of life, from county administrators to city mayors to elected sheriffs and executive directors. I know and understand what's under their purview and what constitutes their 'kingdom' for lack of a better phrase. They are the head of their organization or over the whole city or county.

God's rule extends beyond our borders, beyond our worldly limits, beyond the far reaches of the galaxy...even the outer rim if we have one. Senators, mayors, presidents, and dictators have a reach that extends only so far. After that comes God. He was and is and is to come.

This verse is a mighty praise of God's greatness and majesty. Let it sing in your soul as you worship the One, the Alpha, the Omega.
