“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 NIV
I'm reminded of the scene in Bruce Almighty towards the end where Bruce finally realizes what it's all about. He's talking to God and God asks him to pray. Bruce prays for world peace. Then God asks him what does he really want. Bruce wants his girlfriend to be happy even if it means not being with him. He realizes there's more to life than just what we want.
So when we pray, when we ask God for something, what do we really want? As I thought, it too knew about a second to realize I want his will in my life, even if it means it having exactly all of my wish list in earth fulfilled. It's not self serving to want this...it's wanting what God wants. To see others as he does. To walk in his word everyday. To know he has it all under control.
So yes, I could ask for quite a bit of what I want, but I choose to ask for God. Amen. Hallelujah.
