The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7 NIV
Ever get aggravated because someone kept telling you how to do something and you just didn't want to listen? You already knew how and you didn't need help. That's only scratching the surface of what it means to despise wisdom and instruction. According to my Bible app, the word 'fools' here means those who are morally bankrupt! I'm thinking it meant being a fool...foolhardy, maybe coming a little late to the party....but not morally bankrupt! That's pretty bad.
It is hard to take instruction, especially constructive criticism when we think we know what we are doing. But don't go the way of fools. Fear God and look for his wisdom. Some days it smarts, but he's always right and he always has your best interest at heart.
