If I Can, You Can

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 1 Timothy 1:15 NIV

I love the conversational tone of this verse. It's like, come over here and let me tell you something. It's also an acknowledgement of the writer's own shortcomings over the course of his life. He's learned a thing or two since then and wants to pass it on. He's saying that if Jesus can save him, Jesus can save you too.

We say these types of things to encourage people to not give up. If I can lose weight, you can too. If I can do this exercise, you can too. If I can learn this job, you can too. It's a word of encouragement that no one is so far gone to sin that Jesus can't reach us. God's love can find us anywhere.

So I'll echo what he said: if God can save me, he can save you too. He'll meet you right where you are.
