Force for Good

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24 NIV

This is a verse often taken out of context. People believe that if they ask for a Corvette or a mansion or dame, and ask it in Jesus' name that they'll have it. The disciples were asking about the meaning behind Jesus' teachings. Up until this point they had been asking Jesus, but he was leaving them to ascend to heaven. They wondered how they were going to get answers to their questions,  not how they were gonna get wealth or fame or fortune.

After having now seen the second trailer for the next Star Wars movie, the force is seen as something to use. It can be used for good or bad. We've seen it used for bad and not end well. The force is not something you use to get what you want for yourself. It is to be used to help guide you and to help others.

So it is in your relationship to God. He's not to be used to get what you want. He's not a genie in a bottle. He's the almighty, the alpha, the omega, the creator, worthy of our praise and thirsty for our company. He wants to help us so that we may help others.

So ask your questions, ask it in Jesus' name so the father might hear you and answer. You only need to listen.
