Believable

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25‭-‬26 NIV

I'm sitting here watching Star Wars with a cat on my lap. Star Wars is my favorite film series of all time. I love the characters and the story. But can you believe that there are real light sabers or death stars that can destroy planets? Not so easy to believe because we know it's fantasy, and we'd have to suspend what we know about science and reality in order to make it work.

Jesus was speaking directly to a woman in this verse. He was telling her that he is the way to eternal life. What he was asking her is to suspend all we know about physical life. He knows this, which is why he asks her if she believes it. I also think he was making she understood what he was saying so that there was no confusion about who he was. He knew that if she had just a little faith he could do great things through her.

In order to understand God and his plan we must suspend what we know and, as Yoda says,  unlearn what we have learned. Learn to let go and let God plant faith in us. Do you believe this?
