“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV
I've worked around enough attorneys to know the difference between the words may, will, shall, must, etc. This verse is pretty clear: you WILL have trouble. Not you might. Not just a little. Not maybe. You will. Period. I've got trouble right now. Being sick while working out of town is double trouble. There's no calling in or taking a day off. It's do or die. But as this verse also says, I can take heart because God has overcome whatever trouble there will be.
Notice the action word in this sentence too: I HAVE overcome. Not he will. Not he might one day. He has already done it. Before we even have trouble he has removed the trouble and made it right. We just have to have faith. God doesn't bring us to trouble, he brings us through trouble.
So get your dictionary and grammar book out. Take heart. He's already been there, done that.
