"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them." Hebrews 6:10 NIV
Lawyers and auditors say it best: if it isn't documented, it didn't happen. Gone are the days when people made pacts with one another with just a handshake. Today if something goes wrong, if you didn't document it you have plausible deniability and can get away with selective memory. It's a shame that honesty and integrity are not as common anymore, where a man's word meant something and on his honor and that of his family's honor, it would be kept.
God doesn't need paperwork to remember you. I like the way this verse starts out - that God is not unjust. It insinuates that unjust people will conveniently forget when you helped if it doesn't benefit them at the time. But God is just and right and true. His word is infallible and stands forever - written or not. God's promise is a forever promise. He will not forget you. He will not bring up past troubles to have the upper hand. He will not use your weaknesses against you. He loves you. And because He loved you so much as to send His Son for a sacrifice for you, I'd say His word is what I'll listen to.
